Summer officially feels over here in Scotland and I’m not mad about it. I can’t wait for cosy nights in, wrapping up warm and all things autumn. It’s also because I go to New York in 6 weeks so I’ve been waiting for the end of summer for months.
So in making this my official end of Summer I thought I’d do a roundup of all the things I’ve loved over the past few months. Everything from fashion, to products, tv, film, books you name it, it’s in here. I know I do monthly round ups of both my favourites and my books but I wanted to do a full summer round-up.. So here we go.
Let’s start with the fun stuff.. (Lies all today’s post is fun stuff ) This summer I really feel like I’ve found my feet when it comes to fashion.
I may not be completely there but I think i’ve gotten a good starting place. That being said I did repeat a lot of outfits this summer but I blame that on them being really good basics..
One thing I have loved wearing this summer though is dresses.. First up this new tea dress in from & Other Stories. I admit this one is maybe a bit on the late side for me to get enough wear out of it. But the print is timeless so I know i’m going to get a lot of wear out next summer. I think this dress is so cute and is super flattering. & Other Stories is fast becoming a new favourite go to store of mine I can tell I’ll be ordering a lot over winter.
Next up keeping with the floral theme is this floral shirt dress from Zara, I’ve raved about this dress so much this past few months but what’s not to love its flattering, it has a short underlayer and it has pockets.. Pockets people!!
Speaking of favourite go to stores, Zara has been my one stop shop all summer. Practically all my whole wardrobe has been from zara this past season. They just have the best basics and best trend pieces for amazing prices. Seriously I have lived in the £5.99 basic tee’s and zara denim all summer.
Last thing before I move on to other things, I want to talk fitness fashion.. I have be living in my lululemon workout clothes. I don’t have enough words to describe how much I love the workout leggings, even the sports bra is amazing. Can’t get enough.
Nothing too eventful has happened this summer really it’s been all work and not much else. I’ve also been working out a lot this summer and loving the benefits of it. I’ve noticed such a difference in my mentality, fitness and even in my figure. I am finally at a stage where I feel confident in how I look, I feel stronger and leaner too.
As I mentioned in last weeks post I’ve also finally gotten my second tattoo. It’s a simple heart design on my right rib cage. I love it and it’s exactly what I wanted. It was bloody painful getting it done though but I’m so happy with it.
I haven’t been to the cinema much this past year really but in the last month I’ve seen two pretty great films.
First up we went to see Mamma Mia 2 for my nana’s 70th Birthday and it was so much fun. I loved it and I’ve been listening to the sound track ever since. Everything about it was amazing.. Safe to say I know want to move to a greek island, buy a pair of dungarees and sing Abba songs all day!
A couple of weeks ago we headed to see The Spy Who Dumped Me and it was hilarious. In truth I only really wanted to see it because Sam Heughan (Jamie from Outlander) was staring in it but I ended up loving it. There was a lot of funny one liners and some hilarious moments.
This next one is a Netflix original film Set It Up which came out in June or july I think and it’s the perfect rom-com movie. All about two assistants who try set up their demanding bosses so they will have more free time. Set It Up brings back that classic rom-com movie and it’s just one of those feel good films.
I have watched a lot of TV this summer but hey whats new.. I won’t bore you with everything I’ve watched but I will mention some of my favourites. The Bold Type season 2 returned and it was even better than the first season. The Bold Type is Sex & The City for our generation. These girls are living my dream life and the show is so relatable and current to what is going on and what issues are going on in today’s society.
Okay I’m a lot late to the party but I started watching Dawson’s Creek this summer too and I’m loving it. I’m only on season 3 at the moment but I can’t get enough of this teen drama. I would of definitely had a crush on Pacey if I watched it when it originally aired.. Oh hell who am I kidding, Joshua Jackson is still very cute now..
My favourite podcast throughout the whole of summer has been Girls Gotta Eat. People this podcast is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. Run by Rayna and Ashley the podcast is all about dating. They get down and dirty about all things relationships, meeting guys in the wild, sex, you name it they cover it. I’ve found myself laughing aloud in public places because this podcast is so funny. Give it a shot you’ll love it.
I have read a lot of books over the past few months but then whats new, I read so much any time of the year. I have had a bit of a reading slump the past few weeks however so I’m looking for some fresh books to sink my teeth into. There has been a couple of books however that I have loved this season.
First up is MatchMaking for Beginners This was such a cute book and I loved the story line. All about Marnie who after her wedding ends after only 2 weeks finds out she’s been left her ex-husbands great-aunts home in brooklyn. Blix a matchmaker who believes in all things magic leaves Marnie her home because she knows she’s destined for a big life. Read my full review here.
I’ve read a few good chick lit books this summer to because is it really summer if you don’t read a few chick lit books? First up I read Hot Mess by Lucy Vine and this book is hilarious and super relatable see my review here. Second up was One in a Million by Lindsey Kelk. Lindsey Kelk has always been one of my favourite authors she knows how to write good chick lit books that aren’t cheesy. One in a Million I think has been her best book yet all about about Annie who takes on the challenge to make on guy Insta Famous in 30 days. Read my full review here.
