This week I’m starting off my Aberdeen City Guides with a round up of the best things to do in Aberdeen.
It is a mixture of free things as well as paid for things but there is plenty of great stuff to do. Especially over the summer Aberdeen hosts a number of events for everyone to enjoy. Some of them are very new to the city but some have been around for a while which I’m just finding out about now.
So here are some Things To Do in Aberdeen
Let’s start with Nuart Aberdeen. Nuart is an amazing addition to the city Nuart is a Street Art Tour around Aberdeen. Which started in 2017 and is now a permanent feature in our city. The painted murals run from The Green all the way up to Willowbank Road. Dotted around the city centre the murals each painted by different artists offers an exciting new art feature to our city. This year there has been more additions to the Nuart Tour so I’m excited to head out and see the new additions. Take a look here.
ASC TUK TUK
Okay so it wouldn’t be a Things to Do round up without shamelessly plugging my Dad’s business ASC Tuk Tuk. My dad runs a small business where he offers tours in and around the city his own Tuk Tuk. It’s a great way to see the city in a fun new way really. He offers small tours, weddings, proms, special occasions. Find out more on his Facebook Page here.
Aberdeen Inspired Nights
Aberdeen Inspired Nights is a monthly street food market down on The Green. Hosted once a month throughout the summer. You can check out the dates here. This is such a fun event full of good food and a few drinks to go to on the weekend. I’m so sad I missed the first weekend but I’m hoping to attend the next one in May.
Beaches & Walks
As well as local events there is also plenty of beaches and walks around aberdeen. From Aberdeen Beach front to Stonehaven Beach to Newburgh Beach all the way up to New Aberdour Beach. While we don’t exactly have the weather to head to the beach every weekend they are still great days out. If beaches are not your favourite thing then there are plenty of walks around Aberdeen too. From Benachie to Loch Muick outside of Ballater there is plenty of great scenic walks that you can take.
Who doesn’t love a trip to a castle and being in Scotland we host some of the most beautiful castles. Here in Aberdeen we have plenty in our surrounding areas one being the infamous pink castle really names Craigievar Castle is just outside Alford. I’m sure you’ve see this one on instagram and I’m hoping to head up there soon for a visit. If you’re up for a bit of a drive then Balmoral Castle is only a couple hours drive from Aberdeen just outside Ballater. Open to the public this Royal Home is a great one to visit & walk the grounds.
