Shopping – New in Fashion

Ah the British Summer where as soon as one ray of sunshine hits everyone & their mother is out with a bbq and got their legs on show. Giving your sun deprived skin a little bit of Vitiam D TLC… However When it comes to dressing for spring/summer I always struggle.

So over the last few weeks I’ve been investing in a few new pieces. Doing some online shopping. I blame avoiding any Love Island talk on Twitter for my recent online shopping spree’s.

I get cold really easily so baring my arms and legs on the regular in Scotland is a no go. Considering we can get 4 different seasons in a week it can be hard to dress appropriately. While I want to wear cute dresses and cami tops I can’t face to bear the ever changing weather just yet. There’s also the issue that I haven’t exactly been buying a lot of clothes other than loungewear lately. I work from home most days practically live in pyjamas. So my wardrobe is seriously lacking in decent warm weather pieces.

Like getting dressed in summer I also find it hard shopping for this season.

Mainly because I don’t usually get enough wear out of the pieces as opposed to winter pieces. Meaning I like to take my time to find the right clothes. Ones that will be worth the money & ones I’ll get wear out of.

Which brings me to today’s blog post I’m sharing some new in pieces I’ve picked up for summer.

I finally bit the bullet & bought a silk skirt. After trying one about 100 different styles I settled on this Topshop one. I’ve already worn it a couple of times and it’s the comfiest thing. I feel like this is such a chic look for summer. I will wear this dresses up or down as they are so versatile. When I bought the skirt I had this look in my head of exactly how I wanted to style it up. I’ve paired it with a cropped long sleeve white top from H&M -which I hunted high and low for. It would also look great with a t-shirt tucked in or tied.

Next up is these two – which is my favourite outfit.

A bodysuit from New Look and these Elasticated Waist black trousers from Zara. I’ll start with the bodysuit. If you’ve been following my instagram you’ll know i’m obsessed with bodysuits & this one is no exception. It’s really stretchy material, making it the perfect fit. I also really like how its sleeveless with just thin straps. I usually shy away from Strappy tops but I think this style with the square neckline looks really flattering. Oh and did I mention they are now under £10..

I’ve paired the bodysuit with these new black trousers from Zara. I love the look of the trousers. As they are tailored but the elastic waist makes them a bit more casual. I’m all for the I’m dressed but I still feel like I’m wearing pyjamas vibe. They have that jogger vibe to them which makes them perfect for dressing down. While still looking great styled up. They are also super comfy. I had the orange pair last year which I wore to death & i’m sure these won’t be any different.

I was definitely influenced by Nadia Annya with this look. This is one of my favourite looks of the post. I think the all black look is so chic. I’ve worn this look with trainers but I would also wear this with heels & a leather jacket to go for some drinks or dinner too.

I’m sure you’ll be seeing these two looks styled over on my instagram all summer! You can follow my instagram here at @aimeecitc.
